In February 2015, CCCKL participated in Accreditation Canada's internationally-recognized program to assess the quality of agency services based on high standards of excellence. The extensive examination of the entire organization by accreditation surveyors was the fourth such review of CCCKL since 2004. Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit, independent organization that provides health agencies with an external peer review to assess quality of their services. Participating organizations are measured by standards that examine all aspects of health care - from patient safety and ethics, to staff training and partnering with the community.
The agency has received its report from Accreditation Canada and has met the requirements of the accreditation program. Community Care is accredited until 2019.
CCCKL is one of 1,100 agencies in the country recognized by Accreditation Canada for quality health services and practices. Accredited agencies include hospitals, health centres and community-based social support service providers.
By participating in the accreditation process, an organization such as CCCKL displays its commitment to quality improvement in its own programs as well as within the community it serves. The process strengthens CCCKL's ability to focus on quality improvement, client and patient safety, and effective governance. The standards that the agency works to attain are integrated into daily activities and service delivery.
