Donor Bill of Rights

Community Care upholds the Donor Bill of Rights and pledges that supporters will:

  • Be informed of Community Care’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of Community Care’s capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

  • Be informed of the identity of those serving on Community Care’s governing board, and can expect the board to exercise prudent judgement in its stewardship responsibilities.

  • Have access to Community Care’s most recent financial statements.

  • Be assured that gifts to Community Care will be used by the organization for the purposes for which they were given.

  • Receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition for their support.

  • Be assured that information about their donations is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent of the law.

  • Be assured that Community Care relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to donors will be professional in nature.

  • Be informed whether those seeking donations for Community Care are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.

  • Have the opportunity to delete their name from mailing lists that Community Care may intend to share.

  • Be able to ask questions when making a donation to Community Care and receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.

The Donor Bill of Rights has been prepared by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
