Health, Wellness & Dental Services
The Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes Community Health Centre (CHC), is one of 108 community health centres in Ontario. CHCs share a strong commitment to advance health equity and recognize that access to the highest attainable standard of health is a fundamental human right.
Our CHC staff encourage clients to recognize that there is a direct link between health and well-being and lifestyle choices.
Unlike traditional primary care centres, part of a Community Health Centre's mandate is to address "upstream" health determinants - known as Community Initiatives. CCCKL's Community Initiatives offered through the CHC are varied and continue to grow according to identified need and interest in the community. Our initiatives aim to increase community participation while addressing issues such as social isolation and poverty. Most initiatives rely upon support from various local partners and use numerous methods for community engagement. Positive results for participants include improved community relationships, increased opportunities for employment and education, and rewarding partnerships.
The Association of Ontario Health Centres believes "good health is much more than something you get in a medical clinic. We believe that better health begins in our homes, in our schools, in our workplaces, and in the communities where we live. Our goal is therefore to work towards a complete state of wellbeing for individuals, families and entire communities."
