In Canada, high blood pressure is the #1 risk factor for stroke and a major risk factor for heart disease.
Fortunately, high blood pressure is preventable and manageable, and Community Care offers a volunteer-led, community-based program to help people monitor their blood pressure.
Each month at several locations across the City, trained volunteers are on site to measure blood pressure and to provide advice and assistance with any warning signs of cardiovascular disease. This program does not replace the regular care provided by health care professionals.
Free blood pressure monitoring is currently offered at the following locations each month:
Seniors Centre (100 Head St.), 1st Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
